Ever since I got my new africans it seems like they cant get enough food. Seems like every hour or so they wanna eat and go nuts at the top of the tank. Then I feed em a bit then they go on their way. Are they supposed to be this ravenous. I just dont want to overfeed them.

They're greedy fish that have no control over their appetite (malawi in particular, especially as young juvies), they'll always beg you for food. If you don't want your fish getting the bloat stop feeding them everytime they're at the top, be mean to them, like a high school coach, they'll be better off as adults.

I feed mine once a day (twice rarely) and I fast them one day of the week.

^ I agree with ibr3ak 100%. Be careful with your feedings to avoid bloat in your fishes. I also have for my Africans the same feeding schedule as ibr3ak has.

me too same schedule its all u can do

I feed mine twice a day once in the AM and once in the PM but i do weekly water changes be careful on over feeding will cause problems aye

And I forgot to say that each feeding should last only 2 to 3 minutes, if your Africans are adults.

I can't walk past my fishtanks without them going right to the top and following me as I walk past. They always think it's dinner time. I only feed mine once a day. Once in awhile, maybe I'll feed them twice, but, not too often. They are extremely healthy and active on one meal a day, so that's my feeding schedule, too. They are real pigs and don't know when to say "when"!
