My best fish picture ever.

Great pictures! I miss my 2 rams, only had them for about a month and then they suddenly died, which apparently is fairly common.

How long have you had yours?

Eric A Thank you, I am hoping to go all natural in the tank, but right now the rams have decided they like having a hallway to hang out in.

Hey maybe they like the fake castle!
That is exactly why it is still in there. I was going to take it out , till I spent a day watching them go in and out of the archway between the spires. They may have decided the castle is the place to spawn, and since I would love to have them breed I decided to opt for the fishes comfort over my asthetic sensabilities.

abcdefghi I have had them for 3 months. This is my third pair. The first pair died after 2 weeks. Then I got this pair. I found another pair at a different LFS about a week later. That pair has also died. The Female died from an injury though. I have decided to keep only one pair as I think the tank is too small for them to establish territories and still have free swimming areas. I'm also hoping with only one pair in the tank that spawning will be less stressful, and have more chance of survival if the parents don't have to worry about anything more than my bristle nosed pleco.

Thank you to everybody else for the kind words.

the reason why they all may be dying is because they could be rams imported from china which are pumped full of hormones to make them show color at a young age. if your rams are small and show a bunch of color already it is an indication of this. the hormones usually kill the fish a month or two later. IMO your better off with buying rams from a reputable breeder online than your LFS.

I am sure your right about the third pair I bought from a different LFS being given homones, they were the brightest out of the three pairs. I am pretty sure the first pair died from my tank not being completely cycled. This pair has spawned twice, but they keep eating the eggs. How does one go about finding one of these reputable breeders?

sweet fish and setup!!
