My betta died :( ...help?

oh never mind you said brita filter not betta filter....

Wild bettas grow up in rice paddys and irragation ditches.water run thru a brita filter won't kill them even if it has chunks.if the water was treated and water test numbers looked good Ifeel very safe in saying the water was not the reason neptune went to the big rice paddy in the sky

Oh, the fish's water wasn't run through the Brita, it's just that that was when he noticed it. :o Sorry for the confusion.

But yeah, the water was dechlorinated (against chlorine and chloramines) and with no ammonia or nitrite spike, you're probably right. But I'll check with the water company anyway, just to make sure, ya know?

Ok,so here's another question. Should I take everything out and rinse it thoroughly? Replace the gravel? Get a new filter cartridge?
