I noticed he was acting odd and not as active. He had a small amount of this white stuff on his fin so I treated with pima fix last night. Woke up to this. Had him almost a year. Never had any issues with bad water and what not.

It looks like Columnaris, but I'm not sure. Is that his eye covered with white stuff?
is he still with you? I'm so sorry, he looks terribly sick.

Yes thats his eye. Only one is cloudy. Hes still alive right now but I don't think he'll make it through tonight. He'll come to and swim around like crazy but can't see the food when I drop it in. Hopefully this is one of those "gets worse before it gets better" things.

What are your parameters presently: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, and temperature?
Do you use a liquid test kit or strips to test the parameters?

I'm amazed at how quickly you mention this came out!
It's almost like my "freak-out" fish mess... And I was adamant on my w/c's also.
All was clean and clear, and I'd had my fishes for over a year as well...

Hope this little fellow can pull up for you - He looks like he's beautiful under there,
unfortunately, like Mel said, he looks incredibly sick.

Wish I could pass on everything in my Aqua-medicine cabinet ... something's got to help this gorgeous fish! I keep my fingers crossed for you in the meantime....

Unfintunately he didn't make it through the night. Its too be because he was really a beautiful fish. I ran out of testing strips the other week so I'll be looking around tonight for new testing stuff. Are the strips or liquid kits my best option?

Strips are very Innacurate i recommend API Liquid Test Kits

So sorry for your loss -
I also use the API liquid test kit!
Most accurate, thus far....

I'm very sorry for your loss. Was he in a small tank by himself or were there other fish with him?

The API Master liquid test kit is so much cheaper in the long run than strips, and strips are terribly unreliable and most often don't give accurate readings.

You won't know really what your parameters are if you use strips, I learned the hard way, now I totally rely on the API Liquid test kit.

I'm thinking you should sanitize the tank and equipment before you get another Betta for that tank.
