SIGH... well, after 2 months of fighting off dropsy, my betta is finally starting to give in. he was getting better for a time, but now he has stopped eating, is listless, and seems to be developing fungus on his tail fin.... I did everything I could to help him. kept him warm, kept his tanks water pristine, and gave him epsom salts to help reduce it. i'm not sure weither I should put him down or let nature take its course... i've moved my oto to my 10G in anticipation, since I plan to make my 5G into a nano marine once blue goes to the big rice paddy in the sky....

Would be the best for him...

I waited until it was probably too late for his comfort to put the Original Phred down.

Was my first fish, strange how attached you can get to these critters!

I know... this guy has fought off dropsy before as well as surviving a carpet bungee jumping adventure. i've put fish down before, but he's special....

well, hes still kicking, but I can tell he's on the way down.... SIGH.... I just don't have the heart to kill him.

just finished putting him out of his misery....

he was my first real pet fish I took care of myself, and he survived through everything it seemed. he was too young to die... only a year old. he was in the prime of his life....

I'm really sorry for your loss. I get extremely attached to my fish too.

:(

I don't think I could put down a fish, or any pet for that matter.
I can't bring myself to it either.

well.... i've had to put down terminally ill kittens before,as well as many other animals. I never like doing it, but when I have no choice and my animals are suffering, I want to do the right thing for them and put them out of their misery. i'd want someone to do the same for me.
