my betta is nearing the end :(

He's about four years old now, and sinse December his activity has gone down to minimal. Over the past week, he's gotten even worst. His colors are dulling, and he's hardly leaving his rock home. He didn't want to eat this morning as well. I'm concerned that this might be his last leg. Is there anything I can do for him? I don't know how much longer he will continue to go on like this.

I'd say theres not too much you can do. You can try a water change to see if it improves his mood, but he is pretty old, as you know.

I think clean warm water is about all you can do Lauren, maybe a tad bit of aquarium salt.....you did good to have him so long....

How long have you had him? Sorry to hear that time may be wearing thin. They have such a personality.

lauren - i ampathize with you. i fear the same for my betta, and its even more depressing, as he was my first fish. :hugs:

We got him three years ago almost to the date, so I assume he is about four years old. I just hope he isn't suffering right now. Its sort of sad to watch him be this listless. He helped get me back into aquariums. So it'll be really sad to see him go.
