Once a week I do a 50%, the Nano filter and plants do a good job of keeping my parameters cool.

EVERY FISH NEEDS WATER CHANGES. Everybody assumes that bettas are just fish that need to be fed once a day. thats not true at all. Bettas should be treated like any other fish. They need good water conditions, and water changes.

I'm thinking about taking the 2 swords out and putting them elsewhere, the peace lily is taking over. I put one in my 20 gallon, too.

You could cross them and make a Coat of Arms for your betta.

A peacelily will only do well for a few months with its roots submerged in water as its only a part-time bog plant. youll probably need to replace it at least a couple times a year

As an update; the peace lily is still going strong 5 months later, still taking over the tank! It blooms every once in a while. I trim out a few dead leaves every now and then and I'm gonna trim some roots soon, some of the roots are 1/8" thick.
