My Blue Gene Jack Dempsey's

But you could obtain all thouse genes from a Blue Gene. I know the person I bought mine from his BGJD had well BGJD had the Gold JD and had EBJD's. Unless your trying to mass produce them then I dont know what else you would wanna do that for. I know BGJD's dont sell to great think people worry bout getting ripped off since they look like regular JD's or cuz they just dont know what the big deal is bout them. Also Golds from most people ive talked to arent very desirable people dont seem to care bout em to much. Just my $0.02 from what ive seen. If you want stock from me if I do eventually get them to breed then that fine with me lol

Blue Genes wont produce Golds unless they have the gold gene...in that case they would have to be 3rd or 4th generation blue genes.

I dont know I saw the guys fry and both his breeders gave out golds as well. GBGJD's??? LOL Gold Blue Gene Jack Dempsey is what I own then lol. Pretty cool huh.

Yeah if so you own blue genes that also have the gold gene. To get a blue gene you first need a regular gene and a EBJD....These will produce blue genes....in order to make EBJD's you need to turn around and breed that EBJD with a blue gene...this is the only way to make EBJD's. Now the blue genes which are from the regular and the EBJD would need to be bred with a gold the fry would carry the blue gene and the gold gene...these could then be bred with golds, regulars, or other blue genes and could throw gold or blue gene fry.... A good site to check out is www.allthingsdempsey.com there are a lot of experienced breeders there if you are interested in learning more about Jack dempseys.

Oh ok cool Ill check the site out when I got more time on my hands. Yeah I know a lil bout genetics bout dominant and recessive genes but not enough to really carry a good conversation bout it lol. Im happy with my JD's they look good even if they turned out to be Reg JD's I wouldnt trade them in there beautiful fish and have nice personalities.

Small correction... You can also breed BGJDs together. This produces 25% EBJD offspring. The advantage of your path (which is the USUAL one) is that it produces 50% EBJD offspring. The advantage of the other path is that it MAY introduce stronger genetics over time, as the inbreeding of EBJDs seems to have severely compromised their heartiness and survivability.

Yep!

Ok back on topic my JD's are still looking healthy and everything the dark one has a very bad attitude though. He/She is picking on everyone reminds me of my managuense I had who just couldnt get along with nobody. Now im wondering should i put slate or a terra cotta pot in there to premote pairing between the JD's??? I hadnt thought bout it until I redid my 55gal the other day. Ill have pics tomorrow also of them I think. LOL.

I find clay pots promote a spawning place...I use them in my acara tank and the female always uses the same pot to lay eggs...I also have two in my JD tank but they are still too small to spawn...I am sure that they will use it as a spawning site. The clay pots are also easy to remove once you are sure that the eggs are fertile.
