My briggs dont move

There are lot of ones that do neautralize heavy metals, just make sure it says that on the bottle and then do a big water change and put the food right next to them. I hope for the best!
 
hey guys i have well water and loads of iron in it and use prime and have hundreds of snails,.

but don't have copper pipes, but there is copper in hot water tank and different fittings here and there,..
 
I honestly don't know, we are just trying to throw possibilities out there....

What temperature do you have them at? Snails can be sluggish if it is too cold or too hot. What is your aeration like? Are they hanging out at the top? (not enough O2) Do you happen to know the ph, kh/gh of your tank water? Have you ever used copper based meds in that tank?
 
i dont test ph often but it is usually around 8 kh is around 12 degrees + (12 drops, api test)

water usuually around76-78 but it was closer to 82 the past few days with the 97 degree weather we were blessed with the past few days

I have never used copper based meds, it is a used tank and the person who had it before me used to have snails so i am assuming it never had copper based meds.

i did a 40% water change this morning with some API water conditioner that claims to neutralize heavy metals, dont remember the name.

Just a thought here. What is the date when your test kit was manufactured? When your snails produce the excess slime, your water conditions may not be up to par as your test kit indicated.

Snoopy is spot on with the theories. Wrong temperature can cause some snails to act sluggishly. Trapdoor snails (Viviparus malleatus) for instance refuse to come out at all when the temperature is too warm for them. This can also happen to apple snails.

If the OP did use the copper meds, the snails would have died by now especially if the copper traces are in high levels. Coach, get a copper test kit so we can stop speculating about copper pipes and copper meds.

1. Okay, there is a likeliest chance it may not be copper if the previous owner keeps snails which I am sure he is aware will react even to a small trace of copper.

2. Temperature is too warm. Could you not lower that to 72-74 degrees Fahrenheit, Coach?
 
The person who had the tank before me upgraded to a hundred fifty gallon tank for his oscar (i think that is what it was)...i would think he would know not to use copper.


I didnt think that would be too warm for them, ill turn that down when i get home.
