The petco lady told me they were actually Emerald Green Corys when I went to get him a friend today.

There are many common names for a single species. None are specifically wrong, because none are really official.

If it is truly an Emerald Cory (not really a Cory, but Brochis splendens) I hope you have a nice sized tank. They get a plump 3-4". If your tank is under 40g, I'd take him back and pick up a group of a smaller species.
