Hi ,,
i was feedin the tank this evenin , i fed my cray some shrimps , and just after he ate his shrimp i suddenly saw him he already caught a cory , holdin him by his moth by his clawn ( he only has one clawn ) and eatin him from his tails and the poor cory tryin the best he could to run away  ... that was really really a horrible scene , i quickly tried to rescue the cory , after a while he release the cory and i caught the cray and put him in .5g bowl :( & put and air stone in it , and put cory in another bowl , he s movin abit but i donno if he can make it , he almost lost his tails , his body ( specially his mouth ) badly injured :( , now i feel bad watchin the cray try to get outta the bowl and runin in circles around the bowl , i m so mad at him but after all it s just his instinct . anyway , i have a 2.5g tank i m usin for QT and now usin for plants but i can empty it for the cray , is it fare to keep him the 2.5g tank ? ( he s only 2.5" now ) or i should give him away ? :(
i wanted to put him back in the tank but it s not his first time attackin my fishes , once i woke in the mornin and saw him eatin my beloved angel ( he was already ate half of that poor creature when i saw him ) , so what do u think ? what should i do ?
( after i sent this post i saw i typed "crab" instead of "cray" in the topic s name , sorry i still shocked of what i seen )

I would not put him back in your tank. It is instinct for him to hunt fish and he will get another eventually. A 2.5 is ok for a temp home, but unless you can get him a bigger tank for himself, I would give him away. Just my 2 cents.

What kind of cray is this? Regular crays (non dwarfs) are often, if not always, harmful to fish. It's natural for them to hunt fish like that. A 5G tank works well for a single cray, though bigger is often better.

As for the cory, it looks grim. Hopefully it pulls through though!

I have 4 blue crayfish and I have never known them to eat any of my fish. In fact they seem intimidated by the fish. They won't eat a fish even if there is a dead one on the bottom of the tank. I keep them well fed. I feed them algae thins or sinkable wafers everyday. It might just be the difference in the species. The ones I have are about 4 inches long. They are definitely not intimidated by each other and it is not unusual for them to whack each others claws off but they always grow back.
