My custom built 55g stand.

Looks absolutely awesome, but with those kind of furniture making skills and considering the stand was made exclusively for the tank, Im rather surprised even puzzled why you would not build a matching canopy for the tank and complete the piece tying the whole thing together. But I'm sure you already have a canopy planned and look forward to seeing it. :thm:

Excelllent looking!

Thanks for all the nice comments.
Chief, I'm considering a canopy but am still trying to decide on my lighting. I made the light fixture in the picture, but it was just knocked together with what I had in the shop on a Sunday afternoon. I put 4 T5 fixtures in it but that was before I realized that there was a difference between HO T5s and the ones that I bought.
Slappy, thanks for the input. I'm just down the road in Fayetteville. One of the contractors I was working with told me that there was a good lumber store on Poole Rd. Are you familiar with it?
Kimosabe, Yep.
Thanks,
Ben

full extension drawer glides arent overkill! there the best and i hate not having full extension. but thats a fantastic stand!

Yes I am. :) I actually work just down the road from there and we get supplies from them all the time. Mostly cabinet hardware and blades/bits, etc.
Here's a link to their website: http://www.wurthwoodgroup.com/
They used to be called Raleigh Hardwood.

We get the bulk of our lumber from Horizon Forest, however. It is right off of the S. New Hope Rd exit./Hwy 264 not far from Poole Rd.

I agree. We use all full extension slides including 'soft close' on just about all our cabinets. I installed them on a dresser I built for my fiance.
I too, have thought about building all new stands for my tanks with drawers included.
