i've seen people make braces out of acrylic, but it would likely get in the way of your lid.

If I brace it from the bottom of the lip, it should hold nicely, especially if i recess the edges of the plastic.

the problem is glue.
what glue is strong enough to form a perfect bond between the two plastics..... a bond stronger than the actual plastic itself?

btw, there is an nfl pick em' league in general chit chat section thats free to join and going to be lots of fun this year. the winner will be crowned "King of the Couch" and will wear the title until the following season. if you make a glass brace you could use the bonding stuff they sell at pet stores and secure it right to the glass..i think
