Ace, be sure to check any and all magnets, as well. About 6-7 years ago, I had a severely oxidizing magnet that caused big problems before I found it.

Hmmm... now that you mention that, it has been quite a few years since I replaced my Magfloat. I have replaced the pads on both sides several times but haven't replaced the entire thing in years. That is definately a possibility. Only other magnets besides the pumps magnets, which I will also look at, are the Vortech and the Koralia3 I have in my sump. I would hope it isn't the Vortech but I won't just rule it out without inspecting closely.
