My DIY Background

So how much did supplies cost You for this? I've seen people do these but to me seem a bit overdone. Like people using cement and all that jazz, doesn't appear You did that with yours. Looks like yours is pretty straight forward.

I did mine with quikrete :):) You can get a 4' x 8' thing of insulating foam at home depot/lowes for under 10 bucks, then a bucket of quikcrete for about 12 bucks, and a couple tubes of GE silicone.

I did my whole background for my 120 tall for under 30 dollars and I like it :).

Here is a link to the build. Nothing the average DIYer can't pull off. Once you have he foam and quikcrete and it can be done with common household tools as well.

I really wish I had such talent! Can't wait to see it with a living tank!

Anyone can do it , just takes patience really.

Actually I did use cement but not to where it covered the entire board yet enough to get the rocky texture. The paint filled in the blank areas.

Supplies as posted below I have to agree are under 30$
cement: 10$
paint/brushes : 5$
styrofoam : 6$
etc : I had laying around at the house.

excellent DIY !

Thanks!

Thanks for chiming in, our cost and supples are very similar
nice DIY background you have there.

Thanks! I like yours too.

For under 30, and something YOU made I would say less than 30 is a heck of a deal. Espeically, with a little time and planning and it can come out just the way you want to. And if you mess up (mess ups are easy to fix with this type of DIY) you can buy everything you need again for less than a premade 3D background!

Looking good.

I am usually not a fan of colored gravel, but that actually looks pretty cool.

Any plans to put some live plants in there?

Neither was i untill now, it looks great an it gives a nice offset from the background.
I think im going to stick with plastic, i have a few live plants in my 55gal but in this one im keeping it probably the way it looks. Maybe a nice decoration in the middle or a home-made cave of some sort.. i dk yet
