My DIY CO2 plan

Well I wish that I had read that about and hour earlier. I have my system setup like in the first pic on this thread. The only difference is that I'm diffusing through an internal filter. Nothing seems to be happening. The line running from the filter to my gas seperator initially filled with water (not sure if that's supposed to happen) and the water then went into my gas seperator. After moving the bottle/seperator a tiny bit, all of the water in the line fed back up and shot out of the filter, scaring the crap out of the rainbows that were swimming in the new current! I assume that I should be seeing bubbles at some point just not sure when.

So, first off, a check valve would have prevented that water coming from the aquarium to the gas separator.

Secondly, if you aren't seeing bubbles in the separator/bubble counter, then your either A)the system isn't sealed properly or B)you didn't correct rehydrate the yeast. 99% of all threads created about problems with DIY CO2 stem from yeast not being activated correctly. If you don't already, get a $2 kitchen thermometer to make sure the water you are rehydrating your yeast in isn't too hot or too cold.

I rehydrated the yeast with 1/4 cup warm water and a few piches of sugar according to the package directions and the mixture doubled in size after 10 minutes. Should I have started to see bubbles right away? Does it normally take a while? Is the water in my separator a problem?
