My DIY Pond Snail Trap

I wanted to make something that could cull my snail population but not wipe it out. I enjoy the large ramshorns in the tank so I wanted to make sure that they couldn't fit. This type of trap could be used for baby shrimp or possibly fish. I wanted a lid that could be removed in case a shrimp did make his way in the trap.

And thank you madfox for noticing the safety glasses - LOL! Hey safety first, and those little bits of plastic whirl all over the place when the dremel is in use. :)

Another nice feature is that the food used to bait the snails stays in the container when you remove it; no fouling the water.

do you think walmart would sell jars like that?

Probably. You could look in the craft section, there are jars like that used for glitter. Grocery stores would have them, but with spices or whatever already in them, I assume.

Dollar tree dude. Buy some oregano, put it in a plastic baggy, sell it to some kids, and use the jar.

Good idea too! My favorite way to deal with the pond snails is to smoosh em, then watch the shrimp and fish go nuts on them.
