My filter,

I looked at my filter and was a bit confused, It's a marineland H.O.T Magnum professional filter, I read their site and Am still confused, anyone heard of them or have experience with them, there's no problem with it but I am wondering if it's a good filter??

Re your tank: you ought to put a background on it, it will look a lot better. If you buy those vinyl types from the fish store, you can use cooking oil (NOT baby oil) to stick it to the outside glass, using a credit card to smooth bubbles out to the edge. If you are worried about temperature changes, or want to minimize heating costs, you can add insulated backing, like the 1/2" thick boards sold at hardware stores, 8'x4', cut to fit and tape in place.

Aside from the outflow, I like. . . er LIKED the Magnum, too.

I'm a little po'd at it right now because it started making a horrendous noise and when I took it apart I found that the gasket above the impeller housing was shredded. I'm sure it was my own fault and I didn't seat everything correctly, but BOY is that a flimsy gasket.

I'm gonna head to Sears and see if I can find something the same thickness and flexibility that will last a little longer.

No offence Northstar.......But that is a ugly tank. I dont think I would post a picture of that..........Are you proud of it? To be honest the prettiest thing about it is that little lamp on top, and if I had it I would through it away. Maybe you should think about starting over and maybe spending a little more money so you can get you a nice pretty tank........Again no offence

i dont see any problem with his tank, and it looks like that lights are off, so why dont you post a pic of your tank with the lights off and we'll see how it looks.
