My First 75G SW

The salifert ammonia kit is quite an easy one to use..

  • Add the 5ml of tank water to the vial using the syringe
  • Add 6 drops of ammonia 1, cap the tube and gently shake for 5 secs
  • Add 6 drops of ammonia 2, gently shake the tube for 5 secs
  • Wait 5 mins for colour to settle (important part)
  • Compare the water against the colour chart, the measurements are in mg/l

i got 2 syringe, long and short one. long one has 1.0 ml and short one has 2 ml. which one do i use for 5ml into the vial?

today i took out my rotten shrimp. funny thing is it didnt smell anything today, i find that weird? but when i took out it started to smell phew.

here are my results
ammonia=1ppm
nitrate=50
nitrite=1
ph=80

its only been 4 days since the cycling. long way to go =(

i want to setup fuge in my sump. should i put ls and lr now? theres couple of plants people put in fuge. like cheato or something else i dont know.

also, im going to get more ls and lr. 100lbs of ls and 20-30lbs of lr. would it hurt my cycling process alot?

well you don't need to buy live sand if you don't want to.. the sand you have now that has been going through the cycling process will "seed" the new sand. you can just add "dead" sand on top of what you already have and it shouldn't effect the cycle...

as for the rock. it depends if there is any dieoff. if you are ordering the rock online, the shipping process will lead so a small amount of die-off, starting a mini cycle.
 
i said it the wrong way, i meant to say im going to 100 lbs of fine grade sand.
ill be getting 20-30 lbs of cured live rocks (not from online) from people who around me that i know.

as for the fuge, should i put little bit of ls and and rubbles in now?
