Got rid of all my cichlids on Monday (sad...but happy day). Time for a planted tropical tank. It's going to be a slow build with a few experiments....have to find some plants the cat fish won't eat for one. :P Thanks again to those that have given me info in my other thread.

6-23-08 - Monday (last of the cichlids waiting to be picked up by a friend):

6-24-08 - Tuesday (tossed in a few tetras to see if Hoover would eat them....he doesn't seem interested):

6-26-08 - Thursday (bought some more driftwood...tossed in a few swords, and added a few more penguin tetras). Hoping "Hoover" doesn't eat the plants). I'm going to try one plant at a time...small amounts. If Hoover starts to eat them all...he gets to find a new home. :grinyes:

More pics to come as I add plants and try to figure all of this out...

i love that driftwood!

i love that driftwood!

I found a local guy that can order me as much as I want. It's not cheap.....but I've been looking for this "spiderwood" for a while and no one seems to have it. (one piece was $30, the other $40, and the smallest was $15). Hopefully it will stop floating soon so I can remove the rocks that are holding them down.

I might buy one more piece...but I dont want it to become too jumbled. Also might try shifting it around later to see if I can get it to look better (I think I like it the way it is...but something else might "click" more if I play a bit).

i was lucky enough to find my own wood near a river. but none have that spider look.
