My first attempt at a planted tank...build log.

That wood is absolutely amazing. You should get that guy to start selling some of that good stuff on here :D :D :D Looks like a really promising start, and hoover is a real cute fish. He's such a goofy looking guy.

That driftwood looks very nice!!! I love it:headbang2:

I wish I knew his source. :grinyes: I could find this stuff anywhere...including online. This guy can order as much as I want. He ordered the two pieces I got on Wed. and had them in his store for me the next day...

I don't know what this stuff normally goes for, but I paid $15, $30, and $40 for the 3 different pieces. If it's high....I didn't care at that particular time. I just had to have it. :P

Spider wood seems to be a made up name. I wonder if this stuff is manzanita wood or that nice english bog wood or whatever it is. I guess by giving you a bogus name it keeps you going to your contact for more. Keep asking him what kind of wood it is. Maybe he'll give in.

"Spiderwood" is just a name I've seen to describe this type. Just sounds better than "pile of roots". :P What I've looked for in the past and what I couldn't find anywhere is the "rooted" driftwood. I've searched several local stores and several internet sights and everything I see is more "stumpy"...or more solid limbs. This place looked promising....but they aren't answering e-mails and there's a note saying they aren't shipping: http://www.aquariumdriftwood.com/driftwoo.htm

If anyone else knows a good source of driftwood that would have similar stuff to what this guy can get I'm definitely interested.

I asked the guy what type of tree the roots came from when I bought the first piece and he said he didn't know. I'll ask him again on Tuesday. "Did you ever find out what type of wood that stuff I bought is?".

I love branchy driftwood like that, its looking very nice
