Hello everyone!

One of the 7 mysteries in my tank layed a clutch the other day. I don't have anything special to make sure it hatches, that is if it's not a dud. Is it possible for the eggs to hatch just sitting there? The tank has a cover over the top which makes it very humid in there. I was just wondering if it is possible for the eggs to hatch or if they are doomed?

Thanks!

I believe it's important for them to stay humid and out of the water. If they get in the water they can develop a fungus. I don't know much else other than if you decide to not hatch them, you need to remove them and freeze them before disposal.

I always leave the clutches where my female lays them. I have glass tops on my tank. Anywhere from 9 to 14 days later they hatch and the babies fall into the water. The only time I mess with clutches is when I do not want them to hatch. I remove and freeze.

The eggs will simply drown if submerged for some time. I don't think they can develop fungus in the water. Perhaps it's the water conditions. My canas keep knocking all newly laid eggs to the water and the eggs harden there after some time as my water is hard.:banher:

Good to know, thank you for the info everyone:)

The eggs are out of the water, and with the top on it's really humid in there, so we will see how this works out:) I'm excited!
