MY FIRST CORAL! Update: Some polyps not opening

It shouldn't affect the other heads, since they aren't connected in branching species. The only thing that would is if it happened to be a contagious infection. Not terribly much that can be done to stop it if it does. Can you give a summary of test results? Also, what do you want your thread title changed to?

Wait...it's not all connected? So, when one head eats, the whole unit (animal) doesn't get food? Each head has to eat separately? I'm asking because I gave two of the heads krill today...also when the two heads were eating, all the rest closed up fully. Odd creature I must say.

When the branches fully separate, yes, they are separate units. Yours have a few that are still connected (i.e. the polyps directly next to each other, getting ready to split), though the other branches are in no way connected to the other polyps. It could be any number of things causing the others to close while one set feeds.

I moved it around to different spots in the tank today...it seemed to get even more pissed off. I accidentally dropped it too and some of the polyps of the bigger heads got scratched up. I just made things worse and put it back in its original spot. The smaller heads opened up a little more, but are now worse than they were before. They look like deflated balloons.

Hmm, everything is very good, it seems, if not ideal. Just keep an eye out and leave it be for a while. Don't move it, touch it, etc. If it decides to open more, you can try feeding it something nice and small, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

Today it's back to those two heads (the ones in the at the top both near the center...out of the 6 heads) that are just wide open like nothing else. They are just dominating the area and it seems like the other heads can't even get any light because they are spread out so much. Could that be a reason why the other heads won't open? I didn't know an organism could/would compete against itself.

I don't think that will be a problem. If you are concerned about it, you can gently divide them, though I doubt it would help.
