Added my first group of fish day before yesterday. I bought six Zebra Danios at the LFS to begin cycling my tank. I plan to keep them permanently after cycling.

The interesting part is that half of them are albino. I like this because it does make for at least a little viewing variety and make it a bit easier to take a quick visual inventory.

They move fast and constantly so it was hard to get clear photos. Here are the best two.

One of the regular Zebras and an albino.

A meeting of the albinos. I think they are plotting against the others.

Very good choice for cycling they are very hardy awesome fish just keep up with the testing hope you have drops for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph they are the best. Test strips are not reliable. I used danios when I cycled my 36g in a few days you should get an ammonia spike and then the water changes begin is tedious and will take up to 6 to 8 weeks but once your cycled and you see no further readings of ammonia or nitrite and see some nitrates you reep the benefits. Looks great so far. Good luck!

Nice shots! Make sure you keep up with water changes with a fish in cycle!

healthy tank

If you want a healthy tank with less algy probs. get ride of the plastice plants and get real plants. A bit more work but worth it.

Nice fish :D. Zebra danios are close to indestructible, they should be ok with the cycling as long as you keep up the WCs. Also, I hope you never have to catch them with a net. I once had to in a 5 foot tank, took one whole hour.

Jannika, I used to have 7 regulars and 1 gold/albino, they all schooled together.

The danios are pretty sweet and they really do keep you interested because they NEVER stop moving around lol I can't wait to see the progress of you tank!
What size tank is it?

When I bought the tank on craigslist it was listed as a 33 gallon bow front, but after some research I have determined it is actually a 36 gallon Aqueon bow front with matching Geneva cabinet stand.

Yes... The Danios are pretty entertaining in their behavior. What they lack in color and general appearence they make up for in character.

I would eventually like to replace the plastic with real but I am absorbing a lot of info already trying to learn how to properly care for the fish I plan to add. I am a real newbie and I want to take baby steps for now.
