My first planted 55 gallon

It appears you have it in the middle of the room, however if this isn't the case I'd recommend some changes. I'd create the middle open space to have more of a transition with the heavy planted sides. It just seems unnatural. These are just suggestions though, and good work so far.

Ay... i think it would be cool if you offset the bare area as opposed to having it directly in the middle... and cover the back up with plants to make it look like a medow surounded by woods all suggestion... keep up the good work

BTW i see a little lady in the background :P
 
I totally agree with all of you about the middle area. However, the tank sits on the divider between the kitchen and dining room which is why it's like that. I'm going to be moving the tank soon and will try more of an aquascape. The current state took me forever to get to. With all of the hair algea, green water, sick fish and so on that I feel relieved just to be at this point, with growing plants.

Oh and it's 3 wpg for ten hours a day.
