My First Planted Tank

Hello Everyone,

Just an update; as was suggested I built a two-bottle DIY CO2 setup and had it running since yesterday using air stones (just to clarify only one bottle is currently running the other will be added next week). This morning I checked my PH and to my surprise my PH dropped from 6.5 to 5.0.

Does anyone know if this drastic drop is permanent or if my PH will stabilize and be closer to the 6.0 – 6.5? I am concerned that a PH this low will make it very difficult to keep some of the fish I was considering (i.e. 6 Bronze Corys and 8 – Harlequin Rasboras with perhaps a centerpiece fish like a Gourami.

Thanks and Cheers !

It would be great if someone with some experience could answer Maverick2007's question. I'm curious because I will probably add CO2 at some point and the pH in my tank currently runs around 6.8-7. From what I've read, pH drops from to the addition of CO2 shouldn't hurt fish, but a pH of 5 sure sounds awfully low...cardinal tetras would probably dig it, but what about other fish?
