Hi Friends,
Out of my 6 x 3" Fronts, I observe that 2 of my fronts are growing larger and faster than the other 4 and are also developing a small hump on the head. They also chase each other and the other 4 fronts occassionally. Can I be sure that these guys are the males ? If yes, then is it ok to have 2 Males and 4 Females - I mean will this be a good ratio ?
Kindly guide me a little here...
Thanks and Regards
Kush

With Frontosas, it will take years until they are sexually mature, and difficult to say whether or not you have 2m 4f, or late bloomers... There are also a number of different strains of frontosa, and some develop differently (Females with large humps in some strains, and females with little to no humps in others)... What I would suggest is that you continue to take care of them, and monitor things closely, they should be a generally peaceful fish, so if there is any real scuffles taking place, you may need to take out either the aggressor, or the one being bullied...

Just my thoughts. (My front is growing a nice hump now too!)

:iagree:with bivens, that ratio sounds fine and remember females get humps as well, out of my 7 fronts when i had them in the 120gal they were all bought at the same time and i also had a few that grew faster and developed their humps faster than normal..

I would agree as well. All should be fine for now just remove any front that is causing too much trouble. Generally you want as many females per male as possible but having 2 males and 4 females wouldn't necessarily not work out.
