My gel food

I'm confused - how is adding gelatin to prepared foods any better for the fish than just feeding the foods by themselves? I can see how raising a variety of live foods has merit, but this gelatin food just seems to have no real value.
 
it makes it so it doesn't dissolve in the water so fast and the fish have time to eat it, plus it lets you supplement with other foods such as veggies, beef heart, and fish filet, etc
