My gold White Clouds need HELP!!!

:help: I have a 30 gallon tank, gravel botton, several articial plants, power filter, and heater sset at 70 degrees. I have (had) 7 Gold White Clouds, 6 bloodfin tetras, 1 small pleco, and 1 cory cat. Over the last 8 or 9 days, I have lost 1 White Cloud every 2-3 days. I'm down to 4 left. No problems with the Bloodfins. I didn't find corpses for the first two White Clouds, but I did find some remains of the third one on the filter inlet screen... Any ideas? I'm at a loss to explain it...

At 70 degrees I would have thought the others would be dieing off. White clouds are a cold water fish, the others need 78+.

I should also have said that these fish have been in this tank for over three months but the tank setup is over a year old and all the water levels have tested fine 3 times at 3 different stores in that 8 or 9 day time frame. I didn't realize until doing some research today that the White Clouds are cold water fish. So much for trusting the Petco guy!

move them into a plastic box (plastic is the key!) with original water....no heater of course ...the water will cool very slowly...then go shopping for a new setup

how big are your white clouds? the mature ones are VERY hardy but the babies are quite fragile actually. Also could it be some sort of disease? any signs?

i would think at 70F, it's not the white clouds that should be dieing...

They are roughly one inch long and are about 3-4 months old. I'll move the ones that are left into plastic this morning. Thanks. I have a 10 gallon I'm not using. I guess it will becone a white cloud species tanks. I guess I'll get some more bloodfins and have a good sized school (12-15) of them. Thanks for the help! :dive2:

Your problem is not the temperature. I have white clouds in my tank at 75 degrees and they are perfectly healthy and active (and have been for well over a year). They are a cool water species, but can also thrive in a tropical tank.

Not to contradict the previous advice, but I would hate to see you start losing other fish if you have some kind of parasite or disease.

Keep in mind though, at a high temperature white clouds may be more prone to disease, etc., and therefore could be the first to register symptoms of a pathogen.
