My Goldfish Plays Dead

Would anyone be able to tell me why my goldfish (eggfish) plays dead? It seems to be his favorite game...and I am not at all amused!
My pH, alkaline and amonia levels are all in check...is it possible he is just a wierdo? He loves to play dead while I watch TV but swims around normally with my panda (mutant panda who is now all orange and white) as long as the TV is off or if it is feeding time or night (bed) time.
I would be interested to know if any of you have fish that play dead too!

hi mate , i have a 2 gold fish fantails in a 72 litre tank and one does play dead now and again , its very weird but its fully healthy..

He's resting or sleeping. I have 2 fancys and they rest/sleep on the bottom on and off throughout the day.
