When I woke up this morning I discovered I now how wigglers in the Norte's tank. So far they've both been wonderful parents, the mother has fanned the eggs constantly, and dear ol' dad tries to run me off everytime I come up to the tank.
very nice, must be something in your water. lol your on the right path on what to feed them, you could try boiled egg yolk, and hikari first bites also.
I've heard of the boiled egg yolk method but I have never tried it. It has to be good for fry though, it's pretty much pure protein. Thanks for the suggestion.
Only bad thing about egg yolk, it pollutes the water quickly. It is useful for very tiny fry, just needs to be cleaned up.
Microworms are probably the best food for fry large enough to eat them. They will live in the water for up to 24 hours, so there's fresh live food available for the fry for extended periods of time. Live plants and a well-established tank are also helpful. The fry can find micro-critters to graze on between feedings.
Also a large glass jar outside with a sponge inside of the jar when the water is at its greenest just remove the sponge and squeeze into the fry tank.. I also agree egg yolk is extremely messy but if you want to try it go for it just make sure you are doing daily water changes if you go that method..
