my italian vals and ruffle sowrd

i think its called ruffle sword and my italian vals, but, i have them under T-5s dulle bulbs at 18 watts apeice and one pink and one white bulb, im haveing truble for the planting do all the ruts need to be coverd and how deep do i cover them. and any other info would be nice

With sword plants the roots do not need to be completely under the substrate. In fact, I think it is better if not all of the root system for the sword plant is not buried. For the vals, yes you can bury all of the roots.
