My latest rescue job

Ba da bum..

Very good job on that rescue.. I am also interested in seeing that you are at 160 days.. How are your parameters? Ph and Alk is what I am most interested in.. And you say you do absolutely no dosing correct?

The first 3 pictures might be a bit confusing, the last one of the three, is the middle coral "after picture" of the coral in the middle photo.

I don't do any dosing at all, apart from auto RO topoff, which thanks to the father in law (an electronic engineer) has made it completely automatic so I don't have to forget that I left it on, it just turns on and off. I just stick my head under the house a few times a week to see all is well.

I haven't tested my ph for ever, like actually for years.... I figure, if there is such a substantial amount of buffer like aragonite, ph will never be an issue.

But, now that I point that out... I guess that I am always adding aragonite sand, as it constantly dissolves, so I guess that is in effect dosing.. but I see it as more of an aesthetics as it (the process of dissolving) only leaves the larger particles of sand.

Very interesting.. Thanks for the info.

I am finding myself guilty of providing a little misinformation here... The "Absolutely no dosing" has caught me out again. The staple diet I provide is nori and prepared frozen food, from CA in the US of all places (I always assumed that it was produced locally), but after reading the bit on the label after "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION" I noticed that they are "Fortified" with multi-vitamins, one particular brand is called Hikari they do an ocean plankton product, and it contains stuff like B12, pyridoxin hydrochloride (WTF?), vitamin C, riboflavin, thiamine, folic acid, naicin etc...

Here are a couple of pic's from yesterdays photo run... gee I love not working!

Well I don't call that intentional dosing, thats unintentional dosing :D... A byproduct of feeding.. When I ment no dosing I was talking Calcium, Mag etc etc.. While I can't deny your photos and OMG that coral looks absolutely gorgeous and what an amazing recovery.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride is just vitamin B6, btw :) Good for red blood cell production and balancing sodium and potassium.
