well i have 4 one inch leopard puffer in my 20 gallon tank. it's more salt tan brack. poeple say 1 table spoon for every 5 gallon but i just make my salt level 1.010. is this okay. has any one ever bred them in captivity. if i wanted to just put them in marine water could they survive. what else should i feed them. Food i feed now= live snails, mysid (is this better or krill or brine shrimp?), blood worms, wax worms (sometimes, is it ok?). well you should give me lots of info on these puffers.

I'm definately not the expert but just from a little reading yeah I think 1.01 is a perfect salinity. I could check but I think 1.008 - 1.01 is good for young leopard puffers. Some people go full marine as they get older but I would say wait until they are adults; most people even keep them in freshwater as very young juveniles (under two inches, I think)

Tetradoan Nigroviridis, AKA the Green Spotted Puffer.

This puffer is normally born in fresh-light brackish waters and migrates down to marine waters as it gets older. They grow to around 6 inches, and 20 gallons is still too small for it. The recommended tank size per GSP is 30 gallons.

I would feed the puffer only snails, bloodworms out of your selection of foods you feed your fish. Try going to you grocery store and buying a couple of frozen shrimp (uncooked, unseasoned) and freeze them personally for 24 hours. Thaw half of one and put that part in your fish tank. Your GSP should be eating that.

No one has bred these guys in captivity, so there is no point in trying. Also, no one has discovered a 100% working way to find out if these are males or females.

I would slowly increase the salinity (no more than .002 per week) and as it reaches around 5-6 inches, raise the water SG to full marine(1.021-1.025).
