My letter to Marineland regarding the Stealth Pro heaters..

I think a petition might be more effective- to both quell people like Just Prince who aren't comfortable being represented without consent, and also to prove the numbers of hobbyists you are claiming to be unhappy.

From a buisiness standpoint, if I recieved a letter like this I would disregaurd it as a single unhappy person who googled supporting statements and "heresay evidence" to back thier ONE claim. However, something literally signed by hundreds or thousands of my real customer base or demographic then delivered first class to my office would make me pee a little.

Marineland is a excellent company and took care of any problems I ever had quickly. I would not have written that type of letter unless you had personal experiences of YOUR own heater exploding etc. Sounds like the woman who claimed her toyota just shot off and crashed into a wall come to find out she had her foot all the way down on the gas pedal the entire time and not the brake pedal as she claimed.

BUT,

Thank you for caring enough to take a stand like that. So many people I see around me are cowards or don't care enough about others to do write a letter to anyone. Good job not being a "sheeple".

good heater,, not the best though,, had one crap out on me in a year,,,for that kinda money come on... there is a hefty profit margin on those babies... believe me...
all heaters basically same make up,,, just how well they can sell there product..

I for one, do not and never have used them for many of the reasons cited. I just don't have the faith in them as I have seen what they can do. All my information has been second hand in-spite of seeing the after-effects of the failures. It is only recently that I have begun swapping over to metal-cased as I feel the Stealth line is over-priced and under-performs. Bummer for them, boon for other manufacturers.

Marineland is well aware of the fact that they have a problem. I wrote them a letter a few weeks ago. And while they are good to deal with in regards to replacing the faulty heater, and even compensating you for lost fish, I am a little disheartend by the fact they have not issued a recall. For some species of fish, a failed heater could equal death.

either way, your letter hi lites an issue they should hopefully address. too late for some of us who have had mishaps already. agree should not have written like it inferred you were repping or speaking for all members, but still the spirit of the letter is the intent as so many are having issues. thx as least from me.

still waiting for my replacement from them for my pro blow up & was able to at least ask them to chg to the visitherm deluxe as replacement.
