My Low Light 10 Gallon

Wow! I like how it improved over time. A very big difference from the first pic.

Regarding looking for pygmy cory species, I believe MsJinx has some for sale in the classifieds. Unless she has sold out. Check with her.

I would but I am not adding anymore fish for the time being. I am still in the middle of a darn mini cycle.

Thats what I thought too. Its amazing how much can change in such a little tank

I attached java moss and java ferms to my driftwood with fishing line and it looks so much better in my tank. They are both low light plants and most fish stores carry java ferns and java moss. I love your tank it will look nicer when all the plants fill in with time. The java moss on the drift wood is easy to trim when it gets long. I also attached moss to my rocks. I used that bath loafa thing and cut it and put the net over the rocks with moss and twisted it on the bottom and used a plastic tie wrap to sucure it. looks nice and is easy to trim the rocks.

I am going to definately go with a moss and attach it to the driftwood via string. I don't think that java moss or fern would look good with the species present in the tank.

I might go with the flame moss but I am still debating.... decisions decisions

ok, i've been following this thread and think that background is the neatest one i have ever seen. However, I must be missing something vital here, so here goes... stupid question time.......
Is that background INSIDE the tank or outside??
How did you make that?
Where is your filter and heater? Behind it? Am I just blind??

There is no such thing as a stupid question. In fact, you bring up a very interesting part of the tank. The background is actually made from styrofoam and is in the tank. I carved it out to make it look like rocks. It is colored and sealed by mixing concrete pigment in with Drylok pool and pond sealer. With the proper cure time on the Drylok, it is perfectly safe for fish. I just siliconed the background to the back of the tank to hold it in place. On this particular background, I built it so that it would be able to hide both the heater and the filter in a "canal" in the background. The heater is placed by the water intake on one end and the filter extends down the other end. This way, water is always moving past the heater and the filter sends out the heated water. It works very efficiently, even with a small 50w Tetra heater. The tank stays a constant 76 degrees, though it does heat up to 78 with the lights running.

Sorry for the crappy pics

Here is a picture from the top of the tank with the hood off. You can see the filter on one side and the other hole houses the heater. The water intake is hidden within the rock formation so it is hard to get a good shot of that.

Here is the heater side of the canal:

Here is a picture of the whole canal minus the heater. This was when I just had got it set up.

Thanks for explaining that to me, I love the pictures! It seems like a very effecient system, not to mention pretty neat looking. Have you ever thought of trying to make and sell those kinds of backgrounds? I would think that there would be a good market for them. Heck, I'd buy one from you! lol.

Haha, don't pursuade me back into this....jk lol. I actually built this tank for that exact reason... To sell it. I guess nobody in the colorado area wanted a custom 10 gallon tank. I would love to start selling these for people but it does take a while to complete. It takes me about 1 week to carve and paint, then another for the drylok to cure. They are very customized. You have to think about if the peice is going to fit in the tank in one or multiple peices, filter placement, heater placement etc. Think of it as a peice of art in your tank. PM me if you are interested and I can try and work with you if you would like one!

Alright well as of yesterday I now am running CO2 and ferts on this tank. I am just going to dose the tank twice a week with Seachem Flourish. I also set up a diy CO2 system that runs into the intake on the filter.

I have noticed that the gobies seem to be stressed out by the addition of CO2 into the tank. From what I have calculated using pH and KH, my CO2 is only around 10-15ppm right now. Why would they be having problems? Was it because of the pH drop in the tank? They seem to have labored breathing. The minnows are just fine though. If someone could shine some light on that topic for me that would be great.

Anyways just for pictures sake, here is the tank right before the addition of CO2
