Hey all,

Just got a digi cam and snapped a semi decent pic of my ram so I thought I'd post it here. He's quite a beauty (I think)

Pretty tough snapping good pics. The flash just seems to make tho colors not look so nice (if i get it not to reflect) also pretty hard to auto focus on the fish. Getting there go. I'm trying to use a fancy point and shoot (Canon S2 IS)

This pic was done without a flash at a 1/8 shutter speed and f-stop 2.7. Used photoshop to brighten a little but didnt play with colors or anythin ;)

What you think?

I have never even seen a ram around here. I havent actually searched them out, but I havent ever noticed them. I think I woulda noticed them with colors like those.

VERY nice ram Syno ! Keep snapping those pics, you'll get it figured out. Except for the lighting, that pic you took is very good !

I usually don't use a flash at all. I depend on the lighting in the tank. Also, check and see if you have a macro setting on your camera...usually a "flower" type icon for the setting. Sometimes the angle that you hold the camera as you take the picture can make a difference too.

Taking pics at night and having the lights on over the tank and turning all the room lights off helps too. You won't get any reflextions on the glass that way.

I can't help you out with camera settings at all though...lol....I still havn't figured all that out yet !

Good luck with your new ram and figuring out that camera ! :)

Thanks for the replies guys, when he was in the LFS he wasnt so bright. Not nearly so actually. Only after some feeding up did he start lookin so bright. Also, I have a female ram (equaly as bright but not as nice fins) and when he see's her he looks absolutely stunning. Wish I could get a pic of that. Will carry on trying. Will try and breed them again. Got them to breed a couple time already but have always lost the babies due to having to go away or power failures or such :(

Hey Emg, thanks for the info. I was using the "supermacro" setting on my camera. Allows one to focus on something between 0 and 10 cm away fromt the lense. It also has a normal macro which is 10 up and then normal shooting, which is normal far distances. Only just got the cam so still working out everything. Will try with the room light off. and another light shining into the tank. Will see what I can get :)
