My Mbuna Tank

i already have mianganos, demasoni, and cobue with blue black combination...i will be getting some saulosi soon from the same guy who gave me dem and cobue fry...so lot of blue-black goin on rite now...i think i should hold back on adding any more blue-black cichlids...
what do you guys think about pseudotropheus elongatus "chewere"? i was think these guys wud add another color to the tank with blue spots on black body.

Nikon's dslr cameras are very expensive...i am thinking about going to d60...i think the price for d60 is around $600

Just an FYI, your stocklist may need some work if you want a tank that doesn't kill each other. what size and dimensions are your tank? what do you have in there now? A rule of thumb Ive been taught to live by is to not mix similar looking species. your dems and cobue are both blue barred, which will lead to aggression between the 2. not to mention that the cobue wont color fully unless he is dominant in the tank. adding saulosi will just make it worse. dems and male saulosi look almost identical. so if you do it, be prepared to lose fish.

The dems and maingano, although similar will co-exist because one has vertical bars, and the other has horizontal.

looked it up, it was a nikon d60 that i used..

edit: u have a 125 and are growing out the cobue and dems right? like i said, u may get away with them together, but the cobue normally wont fully color. even in a 125, saulosi and dems is a REALLY bad idea. the male saulosi will get killed or kill dems.

my tank dimensions: 48x24x25. i totally agree with you on all the agression issues. mianganos cant be touched as they pretty big when compared to dem, cobue, saulosi...
between these three: i will closely observe how they get along...and if i have to choose b/n them...i will definitely keep dems. i will make a decision on cobue and saulosi when the time comes...

with mbuna, footprint is really important. they tend to stake territories on the bottom and in a 4 foot tank there isnt that much real estate. I understand u have a 125, which is def good. I myself only have a 55. Though it is a 4 footer. I am limited to 3 groups. My stocklist is 10 Demasoni(which should be 12-15) 10 red zebra(mostly 2 inchers which will be weeded out) and a single maingano. I am growing out some msobo at the moment, and they will be my 3rd species. My final stocklist will be 12-15 dems, 1male to 4 female for the red zebra, and 1 male to 6 female for the msobo.

my advice to you is to plan out what you want, make a list of all that interest you, and make a final stocking based on those fish and their compatibility. I hope all works out well for you man, I love the species you picked. Im a blue barred lover too, lol.

i like deeper and little taller tanks...i do have a lot of ground space eventhough its not linear...i like football ground more than a running track... :) i like how my hap makes circles around rockwork...
my first tank was a 55g...all the yellow lab and red zebra fry were born in my old 55g...the fry i have rite now are probably 3rd gen from the same parents...
