My MTS are dying off.

Maybe this is normal. Everybody else is doing great though. I think because I'm not gettin a lot of algae they're not getting enough to eat. But of course they could actually be hiding from me in the gravel. That might be what's goin on because I sometimes see several popping out of the gravel while several more just have the very end of their tips of their shells hangin out. I really love these guys though. They are excellent for planted aquariums. They actually don't eat plants unless they are decaying.

Get a flash light and check your tank about 30 minutes after it is completely dark in the room. If the MTS are in there, you will see them on the glass at night.

Okay. I see what yer sayin now. I just don't turn off the lights much. I keep them on about 12-16 hours. My sleeping schedule is messed up ( around 5:00 A.M to 12:00 A.M. ) and I think that's why I never see them much. I used to go to bed earlier and would turn the aquarium lights back on and see tons of them. I think I'm gonna turn the lights off, come back about 30 minutes like you said and turn a flashlight on. I just haven't done that lately and just got a little worried about em. Thanks for reminding me to do that btw.

You should probably put your lights on a timer. Not healthy for the fish to have such long photo periods...they need their sleep too, even if they don't have eyelids And undesirable algae tends to grow when you keep the lights on longer than 10 hours max.

Yeah, I know. I just like to watch them as much as I can though. They're very theraputic.

if your water is too soft and acidic it can wreck there shell pretty fast and they will die out
