I have a 125 Gallon tank with 2 Fluval 405 filters..Is it possible the filters are sucking up my small fish? I have ALL community fish (no aggressive or BIG fish) from blue gouramies to red platies and Cardinals..They all eat the flakes so I know the fish are not full from eating other fish (at least i think) I'm a beginner & I'm aware these are small fish for a 125Gallon but I'm still trying to figure out whats happening to them..I see no bodies..Thanks for the help

Basically most fish will eat any other fish that can fit into their mouth. Fry are especially tasty snacks- even to their own parents in many cases. It doesn't matter that you are feeding flake- fish are opportunistic feeders.

Fish will also normally eat the corpses of other fish they find, so often when a fish in a tank dies, if you dont see it early, you may never see any remains, esp for small fish.

Your fish will surely eat the babies. My guppy adults don't though.Gouramies are quite voracious. Also filters do suck up baby fish. I put very fine netting over my filter tube. Just rinse them on occasion. There are different things you can use.

Thanks for the info I had no idea community fish would eat smaller fish, I'll be more cautious mixing the fish

What kind of gouramis? Are they dwarfs or the regular variety? I would also suspect the gouramis if you have small fish disappearing.
