My Neon Tetras

Stressed or diseased tetras will have less vibrant colors. Keep a close eye on the sick one, if he starts showing other symptoms you may want to isolate him. Possibly he is the bottom of the pecking order and therefore is bullied (i.e. stressed) by the others? Also could just be a weaker fish.

Whenever I've seen pale neons they are not very active and don't last long. Could be a genetic weakness too...

Try researching "neon tetra disease" and you'll see some good examples of abnormal spine curvature. I've seen some pretty bad looking tetras, looks like a really bad fish version of scoliosis or spinal meningitis.

This site has a pic: http://203.116.88.76/content/phase1/Customer_Svc/disease/fishDoctor_Other.html

As far as I know there's really very little that works on it, so I don't agree with the "treatment" suggested (they are trying to sell a product...), but the pic is a good example of what NTD would look like.

I took in some Glow Light Tetras from a friend about 6 months ago and added them to my existing Glow Light Tetras.

The newly acquired fish were much duller & most of them had bright red gills. My friend did not take very good care of his fish & I could now see it against the other Glow Lights in the tank. The other fish were much brighter and much healthier looking.

Now, I can barely tell now which fish I inherited. Treat your fish well & they will reward you.

Good luck!!!
