When I was a little kid my dad had a fish tank and kept a few goldfish and tried neon tetras once.
When I got my 20 gallon aquarium 10 years ago the first fish I bought for it were neon tetras because my dad and I were familiar with them and thought they looked really pretty. They do.
But they did not last long.
Neons are not hardy fish in my experience.
