my new 125 gallon snail farm...

the snails eat any plants, any food you may have dropped in the there, and algae. Im sure they found something and they reproduce pretty quickly.

Well thats a good thing then, my poor plants are in rough shape, maybe these guys will help them recover then...

not to mention the algae...

do pond snails lay eggs? I keep seeing more and more of them, but havent seen any eggs, nor any small enough to think they were babies... What do the eggs look like?

the eggs are very small and laid in little sacs of clear jelly under water, usually in plants. the babies will look like littly white specs initially but grow pretty rapidly.

Those look like pond snails, which are my personal favorite.
I've never seen them eat plant matter until it's DEAD, not even unhealthy, and they eat lots of surface algae and such as well.

Snail poop can cycle a tank quite nicely, though obviously you'd need to add more bioload slowly.

well i think i might get a snail too.. since they can do away with some dead plant matter

Yep, pond snails... I'd keep them, they do a great job in planted tanks, I love mine.. they take care of all of the dead plants, uneaten food ect.

this reminds me when I went to Florida on vacation. I had 2 snails. When I returned 2 week later my walls (of my living room) were covered in about 200 snails. We had to hire an exterminator to rid of the pests. Ever since I vowed to never get another snai again.
