My new 20 gallon extra high build log

I was leaning more towards kuhlis, and aiming for six.

The tank measures 20 inches wide, 10 inches deep and 24 inches tall. I got mine at Jack's Aquarium.

I might be wrong but that sounds a bit small for kuhlis but i have never kept them before so hopefully
someone else will advise on that. You could fit a shoal of panda or pygmy corys in there.

I'd think the kuhlis would be better suited to it than the cories would. They stay quite small, love to dig in the substrate and would probably enjoy the vertical driftwood play tower.

I have one in my five gallon that almost never drops to the floor of the aquairium. It spends almost all of its time in the top few inches living amongst the wisteria leaves.

Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. If it's good for one it should be good for the other. The plus with kuhlis is they tend to "go vertical" more than I remember cories doing.

Still, they're goth great fish.

Sorry, I'm so close to getting started but my wife keeps giving me chores when I get home from work. I hope to get the sand rinsed and the water in this weekend.

Visit from mother-in-law = enough of a distraction to get work done.

Here I have my substrate and driftwood in, along with my background and some plants. I put some moneywort, some type of sword, a grassy plant whose name escapes me and some wisteria clippings from my work tank. I don't know how well they'll do, I believe the hood I bought is only a 15 watt (20 inch hood), so for a 20 gallon it may be too weak, especially in an extra-high build. We'll see.

Here's some pictures of my equipment. In another forum, I asked about bubble wands and had several people complain about clogging. I found a hagen bubble wand that looks a little less clog-prone. It's a clear, light blue-ish plastic with a row of little holes along one side. The others I've seen are either a foam or stone, which got poor reviews from people here for clogging rather quick. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I also have a Whisper power filter that I got for free from my Mom who found a good sale. It's for 30-60 gallons, and puts out a lot of flow. Between the two, the tank is fairly well churning. My bubble wand is running off a dual-sided air pump that is joined by a T coupler to run through the one line. Ironically, the only problem is the Whisper filter is rather noisey.

Annnnnnd, the tank is ready to cycle. I seeded it with some water from my tank at work and will give it a while to process. I stopped in to look at my wife's tank the other day and will hopefully be transplanting those fish here in the next week sometime. There are actually fewer than I thought, the dwarf gourami died, and maybe a zebra danio too. She never remembers to tell me when stuff like this happens.

There are four red minor tetras, A smallish but growing common pleco and three guppies, and maybe two zebra danios. I'm going to find some malaysian trumpet snails soon to keep the sand stirred up.
