I should have gotten one to begin with! I love it. I only have a few peices of rocks and 4 African Cichlids in it now to cycle it up then I will be adding more!

here are some pics of it and some pics of the Cichlids, along with my other tanks.

Can anyone identify them? They were given to me. I think the one is a yellow labino, the two blue ones are johanni, though the smaller blue one looks a tad different, and the white is an albino zebra, I'm not too familiar with cichlids (never had them) so I'm not sure if the names are right.

Nice tanks! Where do you get your slate from? Love the look of it, I just can never find any nice pieces around where I live. I once grabbed some from a local creek and boiled it prior to use, but it still made my tank have a bad brown algae outbreak. Love your tanks though!

The white one is an albino socolofi, the blue one with black lines on its fins is either an elongatus or a stressed socolofi, the blue with a horizonal stripe is a johanni and the orange appears to be a red zebra, kinda pale so could be a male, but still early to tell.

Nice fish, you should get more mbuna and add them in all together at the same time to avoid later aggression.

I find the slate rock in a creek about 1/2 a mile down in the woods behind my house. I never boiled it I soaked it in salt in the bathtub for about an hour in hot water then scrubbed each peice with a scrubbing pad under hot water till no dirt came off. I haven't had any problem with algea but its only been about a week. I'll let you know how it does in the future!

Thanks! I plan to add a few more after it cycles. Should I add a few more during cycle or is there enough now?
