my new 75 gallon tank set up

it's called rocky mountain granite. I picked up some of the rocks while hiking and others at a landscaping company.

I do wish i had all of one type of rock but it was kind of difficult to find ones that i liked that were all one kind and i didn't want to spend lots of money trying to get texas holy rock.

Current stock:
Pseudotropheus sp. x4 (3F:1M)
Melanochromis auratus x1 (F)
Metriaclima estherae x4 (2M:2F)
Pseudotropheus zebra x2 (1M:1F)
Hemichromis bimaculatus x3 (2M:1F)
Metriaclima lombardoi x1 (M)
Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps x1

It's not the ideal stock and most would suggest you not house this many aggressive species. However... All of the fish are the original 2-2.5" fish I put in there and are now 3-4". I haven't had a missing fin or death in the four months it's been around. I don't recommend it but just showing you that it can be done haha.

Yeah once i get the fish i will post up a picture of the updated tank. I actually got one of my friends to make me a new stand for this tank and it's pretty sick.

How does the sump work for a freshwater? I was considering using one on my new 75g tank for increased water stability and to hide all my equipment. Does the overflow draw enough waste out of the water? I would think there would be too much that sinks to the bottom and doesn't get sucked up. I guess that's what a water change is for though, huh. I'd really like to know how you have yours set up though and how it's working out for you. I would assume that for freshwater you wouldn't need as many things going on in your sump as you would for saltwater.

The separate rock piles look nice. I think if you built them up a bit more it would be perfect.

yeah it works really well. I almost never have to do any filter maintenance on my tank. My water stays nice and clean. There is some waste that collects on the bottom of the tank but i just suck that up with my vac every couple of weeks. I wish all my tanks had sumps because it just makes things so easy and i don't have to look at a heater or air stone or pump or any of that in my tank.

I really love the tank!! Have you ever used sand before? I am just asking because I used it once, and it gets NASTY fast. Very hard to keep the tank looking pristine. Let me know if you have experience keeping sand white. Good job though!
