so yesterday I got my much anticipated 90 gallon aquarium!
it came with 6 goldfish that range in size from about 6 in. to about 10 in. (tha'ts including their tails), 2 (common???) plecostomus, and 1 weather loach(they are hard to catch with hands:D).
it also came with a marineland magnum 350 diatom canister filter. I have never had a canister filter before. does anybody have any experience with this brand and is the filter big enough?
when I got the filter it was(and is) leaking(I got a $30 discount because of it:D), but I've located the leak and will fix that.
in the future I am going to be making it a fast fish tank, with bala sharks and rainbowfish.

Pophead - I too have a 90 gallon tank. I have 3 large fancy goldfish (6-7inches) and 2 lionheads (2 inches) and 2 plecos and 3 gold snails. I am running a 404 fluval and 2x emperor 404s. I still find myself doing weekly water changes and the goldfish produce a lot of waste. From what you wrote i would probably recommend more filtration.

Yes you have enough filtration but....

Your pleco and weather loach are warm water fish 78-82f

The gold fish are cold water fish 60-70f

yes, I realize the tempurature differance. which is why yesterday I put in a heater and got rid of the goldfish. I also added another pleco and a bala shark and 2 cherry barbs. I'll be adding lots more later!
so this filter is almost enough, but stretching it? I'll probably just put a power filter on the tank or something.
