Well I thought I would post a pic of my new betta Erik the Red. I just lost my beloved Darius to a strange illness (I had to put him down in the end) and Erik has come to replace him after a decent week off for the tank. So far Erik has taken to his 5 gallon with gusto. In the first 5 minutes he tried to eat every snail in the tank, only to discover each time that they were not to his liking. He has also instantly taken to flake food. So far so good.

Sorry that it is a bit blurry but he was doing a get away from me dance. He doesn't like all the press taking his photo.
he's gorgeous!! good luck!Thanks. He is great so far. He was the only one in the store that actually got off the bottom of his cup to check me out. The others had seemed to give it up already.
I was amazed when I was paying for it and mentioned I had a 5 gallon tank setup for him when a lady asked how come I was putting him in such a big tank. I mentioned they do much better in tanks at least 2 gallons or bigger and she was floored thinking that they lived in tiny puddles in the wild. But I finally convinced her that rice paddies were in fact a bit bigger than rice paddies. She did say she was going to tell her friends that when she got home. Perhaps I did a good deed.
