Against everyones advice, I did DIY Co2 on my 55g for quite some time with great results. It's a huge amount of work to get things working decent. Constantly testing water and changing fert amounts to get a good balance was the worst. Algae will let one know real quick if something isnt quite right.

I have since quit doing the DIY route. And will hopefully be starting to purchase parts for an injected system sometime soon. Time is too hard to come by, so constantly checking water params, etc. will be too difficult for a DIY system.

So, if one wants Co2 and doesnt mind the work, I think it can be done on a 65g. However, injection would have to be so much more less time consuming. I havent used injection yet. But from the way folks talk about it, it seems almost "set it and forget it". ALMOST. Just my 2 cents.

I have 3 hagen bottles and ladders that I got for 5 bucks each at my lfs used section. I've tried various combos of suger and yeast and found that in these bottles one cup of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of yeast seem to work the best. Make sure you use warm water when making up the mixture. I use water that just borders on hot. I fill the container about half way, stir in the sugar, then top off the water and stir in the yeast. I get my first bubbles in 20-30 mins usually.
