I want everyones opinion on my setup.

I have a 6 foot long 125g aquairum.
Magnum 350 pro
H.O.T. Magnum
Biowheel filter
Sand substrate
Fluval ceramic rings in the HOT mag and Biowheel

Fish:

1 Oscar
1 Texas cichlid
2 Firemouth Meekis'
1 Normal Pleco
1 Silver Dollar?

What do you guys think? if I was to pass on the silver dollar what should I get in its place?

hmm

you could always get a syno or 2. Should have a lot of open bottom dweller space.

i would suggest a bottom feeder of some sort as well, if you wanna venture away from cichlids there are some very nice catfish or carp relatives...

Fish sound ok, but is that enough filtering? I'm not prepared to say that it isn't enough, but it sounds like what I use with a 75g tank - Eheim 2217 with an AC110. What does everyone think?

As to bottom feeders, you could also think about clown loach. I love mine; more interesting than cats, imo. If you elect to drop the sd, giant danios would be the logical choice, and you don't have dithers listed, so they'd fill another niche.

Ditto, 2 mags on 75/90s, 3 on 125s.

sounds great guys ill drop the SD and pick up something for the bottom of the tank, id like to get a few pretty fish thatll make the bottom a home.

today i ran into a problem. Im cycling my tank as some know and yesterday my ammonia was up and nitrites were up, this morning ammonia is still up and my nitrites were completely gone. Im assuming i had a nitrite spike. But what should i do know?

How many days into the cycle?

Exact ammonia, nitrites and nitrates readings?

ammonia : 4ppm
nitrites : 0.50
nitrates : enough to hit the test charts

today:

ammonia: 3-4ppm
nitrites: 0
nitrates : stills howing up on charts

also i decided to get a pair of cuckoo synos

week into the cycle

any ideas what happened guys? Now my cycle is back on track it seems with the 4-5ppm ammonia and 0 nitrites and a small level of nitrates. Im clueless... :rant2:
